TIRANA, June 6 – General Director of Civil Emergencies Haki Çako accompanied by fire experts have conducted air control over the island of Sazan on the Adriatic Sea to assess the need for further intervention as the fires that broke out in the area continue to be active.
While in the early hours of Monday morning the intervention troops from the ground were added and they have created deforested belts around the fires.
Prime Minister Edi Rama conveyed the comments of the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi on the situation.
Informing about the fire situation in Sazan, Peleshi praised with gratitude the sacrifice and professionalism of the Armed Forces and the entire Civil Defense system.
“I appreciate all the concerns and opinions expressed without hesitation, but we rely on experts in the field who estimate that the most effective technique in case of fire on Sazan Island is to isolate the hearths from the ground by creating deforested belts around each hearth,” said Peleshi.
According to him, unfortunately this summer will also be very hot and the minister pledged to be by the side of the municipalities to support coping with possible emergencies. “But we also need volunteerism and commitment from everyone to deal with emergencies together, instead of turning them on even more by the ‘keyboard’.”
In the meantime it is reported that the situation continues to be critical, as the flames spread due to the wind. The number of troops engaged in the firefighting action has increased with members of the Pashaliman Marine Fleet, members of the Special Forces, the Vlora fire brigade and volunteers. /Argumentum.al
