The Ukrainian ambassador to Albania gave a press conference regarding the Russian attack on his country on Thursday. “Today Russia undertook aggression against Ukraine. The bombings were carried out on military facilities but also in peaceful cities. This is an act of war, an attack on the integrity and territorial sovereignty of Ukraine. It’s an attack on the UN map. A state of war has been declared throughout the territory, while the northern space has been closed. Military fighting are going on along the borders with Belarus and Russia. Diplomatic relations with Russia have been severed. The president has introduced the law on general military mobilization,” he said.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Tirana Volodymyr Shkurov stated that so far 40 Ukrainian servicemen have lost their lives and dozens of civilian casualties have been reported. He underlined that among the victims 2 are children. “Currently we have information from the Ukrainian side that we have about 40 army personnel and dozens of civilian casualties. We have information that two victims are children. About 50 Russian soldiers have lost their lives. Six planes and two helicopters were shot down by Ukraine,” he said.
The ambassador stated that in addition to the request for sanctions, Ukraine has also made requests for weapons.
