TIRANA, June 13 – The price of oil has reached higher levels than ever before, being sold at 258 lek per liter. Likewise even the prices of other goods have skyrocketed and citizens will return to the protests in Tirana.
On Wednesday at 18:00, protesters will gather in front of “Skanderbeg” square to march towards the prime minister’s office. The call for protest was published on social networks with the motto “Enough is enough!”.
“The increase of prices has not stopped. Oil has reached 258 lek / liter, while the prices of food and every necessary product continue to increase. The vast majority of citizens are getting poorer, more robbed and trampled every day. The government is proving day by day not only the capture by the oligarchs, but also criminal incompetence in managing the crisis. The oligarchs receive millions of euros in subsidies, while the poorest receive crumbs that are expiring,” said the announcement released on Monday. Further it said that while most of the society does not benefit from any mitigation measures, government boards have turned into cartels justifying the scandalous price increase. “In these circumstances, patience is a luxury we can not afford. No one can rely upon hopes of a thieving, compromised and incompetent government. The people must take their destinies into their own hands,” said the notice.
In the meantime even the chairman of the opposition Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha has warned of a wave of protests against the price increases.
