TIRANA, June 23 – Former US Vice President Mike Pence on Thursday visited Iranian dissidents in Albania, where he met with the leaders of National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and delivered a policy speech to those pushing to overthrow the current government in Iran.
Pence visited the NCRI headquarters, an umbrella group for dissident groups that oppose the regime and which found support from a number of Trump-era officials including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Pence met with NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi.
The NCRI, which has offices in Washington D.C., has pushed for a tougher stance by the West again Iran — and has opposed efforts to re-enter the Iran deal, warning that the regime cannot be trusted to comply with terms. It is the political wing of the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq, the main Iranian opposition movement which recently launched a number of cyberattacks in Iran that took down security cameras and government websites.
It is announced that Pence was met by high figures of all Albanian political scene who are traditional supporters of Mujahideen.
It is said that there are about 4000 Mujahideen in their camp near Tirana but secrecy covers all what they do in their fortress, and ordinary Albanians do not know what they do close to the capital of the country.
