TIRANA, July 6 – Prime Minister Edi Rama paid an official visit to Pristina on Thursday where he was received in a meeting by the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.
Rama said after the meeting that it was useful and an open conversation about the topics of the visit, the Berlin Summit to be held in Tirana and the NATO Summit, as well as common concerns.
While in an announcement of the Presidency of Kosovo it is said that the NATO summit, which will be held in July in Vilnius, Lithuania, and the Berlin Process summit, which will be held in Tirana in October were discussed in the meeting. Another topic was the current situation in Kosovo and the region in relation to the latest security developments in the north of the country.
President Osmani reconfirmed Kosovo’s commitment to address the common challenges faced by the region together with the Euro-Atlantic partners.
In relation to the security situation in the north, Osmani said that Kosovo has demonstrated the will for de-escalation, offering the organization of new elections in the north of the country in accordance with the legal framework of Kosovo.
As for the Summit of the Berlin Process, it was discussed the necessity of entering into force all the agreements reached so far in this process, especially those related to freedom of movement, as well as the possibility of increasing the projects and beneficial funds for the countries of the Western Balkans within the Berlin Process.
President Osmani and Prime Minister Rama agreed to continue coordination for the benefit of the citizens of the two countries as well as for the benefit of regional peace and security.
As it was stated before, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, refused to meet with Rama and repeated on Thursday that if the joint meeting between the governments of Albania and Kosovo is not held, there will be no other meetings between him and Rama. Kurti said that he will meet Rama only if the meeting of the two governments is held, not for other meetings.
“I consider a joint meeting of the two governments reasonable, but not other meetings,” said Kurti. /argumentum.al
