The Council of Albanian Ambassadors has voiced serious concern over Israel’s ongoing military operation in Gaza, describing it as a breach of international law that places civilians at grave risk and further undermines the viability of a two-state solution.
According to the statement, true peace and stability in the Middle East can only be achieved through unwavering respect for international law, full implementation of relevant UN resolutions, the safeguarding of civilian lives, and the establishment of two sovereign states—Israel and Palestine—living side by side with mutual recognition and security.
Tirana, August 25, 2025
The Council of Albanian Ambassadors expresses its concern over the news that the Government of Israel has launched a military operation to occupy the city of Gaza, an action that constitutes not only a violation of international law and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations, but also carries extraordinary humanitarian risks and constitutes violations of human rights.
We also express our concern regarding any demographic or territorial changes in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, both in Gaza and the West Bank.
The forced settlement of Israeli settlers in Palestinian territories in the West Bank, with the aim of undermining the “two nations, two states” solution, an effort strongly supported by the international community and which represents the only peaceful and sustainable solution for the region, as well as attempts to displace the Palestinian civilian population from their lands, equally constitute flagrant violations of law and international legality.
These actions go beyond Israel’s legitimate right to self-defense and further deepen the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe, which has already raised profound concern throughout the entire international community.
Gaza and the West Bank should remain an integral part of a future independent Palestinian State, one in which there will no longer be a place for Hamas terrorists, and which coexists with dignity and peace alongside all of its neighbors, first and foremost with Israel.
We join international calls for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all Israeli hostages still held by terrorist groups, and the safe and large-scale delivery of humanitarian assistance to the civilian population.
Respect for international law, compliance with the relevant UN resolutions, the protection of civilians, and the implementation of the two-nation, two-state solution, with security guarantees for Israel, constitute the foundations of peace and stability in the Middle East.
