After the announcement of the results of the parliamentary elections, in which the Socialist Party secured a victory ensuring a fourth consecutive term, Prime Minister Edi Rama received congratulations from several European leaders, including Giorgia Meloni, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez, the Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković, as well as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, the President of France Emmanuel Macron, the President of the United Arab Emirates Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Leaders of European Union member states and representatives of international institutions have praised the electoral process and congratulated Rama for continuing to lead the Albanian government.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Prime Minister Rama on the electoral result, highlighting Albania’s progress on its path to European integration.

“Dear Edi, congratulations on your victory in the elections! Under your leadership, Albania has made great progress towards our Union. Let’s continue to work closely together on EU reforms. Albania belongs in the EU! I look forward to personally congratulating you tomorrow in Tirana,” wrote Von der Leyen.

President of the European Council Antonio Costa also congratulated Rama, calling the result “impressive.”

“Warmest congratulations, dear Edi, for these impressive election results. I look forward to personally congratulating you tomorrow in Tirana,” said Costa.

President of France Emmanuel Macron congratulated the Albanian Prime Minister, writing in Albanian.

“Congratulations Edi Rama, my dear friend, on your victory in the parliamentary elections. France will always stand by Albania on its path to the European Union,” declared Macron.
He added that the two would meet on Friday at the European Political Community Summit, “for a visit that should allow us to further strengthen our partnership.”

President of the United Arab Emirates Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the growing relations between the two countries and expressed confidence in deeper cooperation in the future.

“Sincere congratulations to Prime Minister Edi Rama for the result in the parliamentary elections in Albania. Relations between the UAE and Albania have seen strong growth in recent years, and I am confident that together we can continue to expand cooperation and promote further development for the benefit of our countries and peoples.”

Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban described Rama’s victory as “decisive” and emphasized the importance of the upcoming European Political Community Summit to be held in Tirana.

“Congratulations to Prime Minister Edi Rama for his decisive victory in the parliamentary elections in Albania. Dear Edi, I can’t wait to see you this Friday in Tirana at what could be a historic EPC Summit.”

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer congratulated Rama on a “historic victory” and expressed a desire to continue cooperation between the two countries.

“Congratulations Edi Rama on your historic victory in the elections. I look forward to continuing our cooperation to deliver results for ordinary people in both our countries.”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also congratulated Prime Minister Rama and the Socialist Party on their election result.

“Congratulations to Edi Rama and the Socialist Party on a decisive victory in the elections. I wish you success in serving the Albanian people,” wrote Zelenskyy.

Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković, in his message, emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation within NATO.

“Congratulations on your victory in the parliamentary elections. I look forward to further strengthening our bilateral relations and cooperation within NATO and other international forums.”

These congratulations come at a time when Albania is expected to be at the center of international media attention, as it will host the European Political Community Summit.

We note that on May 16, 2025, Albania will host the sixth summit of the European Political Community (EPC) in Tirana, marking a historic event not only for the country but for the entire Western Balkans region. This is the first time this significant forum will take place in this part of Europe, reflecting the strategic importance the region has gained in the continent’s political and security architecture.

The summit is expected to be attended by 47 Heads of State and Government, along with leaders of the highest European and international institutions, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, as well as other key figures in the leadership of the EU, NATO, and the UN.
