TIRANA – “The virus is still among us, and we can defeat it only by observing preventive rules and being careful in this new normalcy,” said Dr. Marjeta Dervishi from the Institute of Public Health (ISHP).
“During the last 24 hours 864 tests have been performed to assess infection with the SARS COV2 virus, and 158 people have been confirmed positive with COVID-19,” Dr. Dervishi said on Wednesday.
More than half of the new cases were registered in Tirana where 81 persons were confirmed infected, according to the updated statistics on the disease which show that its spread goes on.
Two patients have lost the battle with COVID-19, and the number of victims of the pandemic mounts to 234 nationwide.
“Currently in the Infectious Diseases Hospital and ‘Shefqet Ndroqi’ 101 patients are being confirmed positive with COVID-19, 17 in intensive therapy of which 4 patients are intubated,” the ISHP expert said.
Wednesday’s appeal was: “Avoid mass gatherings in bars, pubs, and any kind of event or ceremony that endangers your health and becomes a source of spreading the infection!”
