TIRANA – With the 20 new cases of coronavirus identified in the last 24 hours the total number of people affected by COVID-19 in Albania jumps to 1232, Dr. Flutra Beqo said in the daily update on Saturday.
Beqo said that during the last 24 hours an 85-year-old woman from Tirana lost her life in the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Tirana confirmed with coronavirus with some concomitant diseases. To date, 34 citizens have lost the battle with COVID -19 despite the efforts of medical staff.
According to the medical specialist, there are still new hospitalizations in the infectious disease hospital, where 27 people are currently being treated, 6 of whom are in intensive care, one of whom is intubated.
Meanwhile, in the Virology Laboratory at the IPH, tests have continued and the intensive work of epidemiologists in the field for active tracking of cases throughout Albania continues. In the last 24 hours, 253 tests were performed, of which 20 positive cases were confirmed, respectively, 10 cases in Tirana, 3 cases in Shkodra, 3 in Kruja, 2 in Durrës, 2 in Tropoja. The cases identified in the last 24 hours are family contacts and some new cases in the investigation process.
“We currently have re-infected health personnel after almost 3 months, that is infected for the second time, as a family contact. His health condition is stable,” she said.
Some 15 citizens recovered during the last 24 hours, bringing the number of cured people to 925 since the outbreak of the epidemic on March 9 this year. /argumentum.al
