TIRANA – It is reported that Albania has registered its youngest victim of COVID19 on Wednesday when a 34-year-old woman with underlying health conditions passed away in the infectious diseases hospital in Tirana.
In the daily update of the pandemic situation Marjeta Dervishi, a specialist at the Institute of Public Health drew the attention that Kruja was the town affected the most by coronavirus with 18 cases out of 63 new cases confirmed in this Balkan country in the last 24 hours.
According to the information provided by health authorities the steady high number of new infectious cases has raised concern over the situation in the COVID19 hospital where there are currently 82 patients taking medical assistance and 14 of them are in intensive care.
The total number of infected people in Albania since the coronavirus outbreak on March 9 has reached 2,114, but 1217 of them have recovered. Among the recovered patients are 7 doctors and nurses.
However, 850 persons continue to be active patients, mainly in Tirana, Shkodra and Durres, who, as specialists claim, constitute the potential source of the spread of the infection. /argumentum.al
