TIRANA – The ninety new infected cases confirmed with coronavirus on Friday which is the highest number of infected people with the virus since its outbreak on March 9 has sent waves of concern across Albania.
The Health Ministry warned that COVID19 affects any age without any distinction repeating the appeal addressed to the citizens for being careful and respect all rules because the negligence observed during the last weeks favors the spread of the virus as it is happening.
The head of the epidemic intelligence service, Eugena Tomini revealed in her daily update3 on Friday that 362 tests were made during the last 24 hours and 90 of them were found positive cases.
With 35 new cases Tirana tops the list of the places mostly hit in the last 24 hours followed by Kruja (12), Kurbin (10), Vlora (8), Shkodra (6). There were infected people also in Permet, Pogradec, Kukes, Lezhe, Kavaja, Lushnja, Kolonje, Vau i Dejes, Kamez, and Durres. The map of the spread of the virus shows that the COVID19 is present in almost the entire territory of Albania.
Although in low key, specialists of the health institutions which check the progress of the disease admit that they did not expect such a turn of the situation after the lifting of the restriction measures, and they join forces calling on people for increased caution, respect of the social distance and wearing of face masks.
Please use the face masks everywhere indoors, when entering the supermarket, in shops, in the office and in any public place where you cannot keep your distance,” said Tomini.
Nevertheless as some specialists said on Thursday evening in talks shows on local TVs citizens are reluctant to respond properly to the preventive measures. Asked if lockdown could be re-imposed, they denied such an alternative. In the meantime, it is apparent the total silence of PM Edi Rama on the aggravated situation because he used to be the key speaker on the pandemic until the lockdown was lifted./argumentum.al
