TIRANA – Albania’s capital Tirana continued to be the hotspot of the coronavirus pandemic with 11 new cases out of 13 which were declared on Thursday, local health authorities said.
“Some 13 positive cases were confirmed and 11 were in Tirana, 1 in Kruja, and 1 in Shkodra in the last 24 hours during which 282 tests were made,” said specialist of Institute of Public Health Marjeta Dervishi. a
This marks a slight decrease in new coronavirus cases compared to recent days, which registered more than 20 cases per day.
“In the last 24 hours, 282 tests have been performed, of which 13 positive cases have been confirmed, respectively, 11 cases in Tirana, 1 case in Kruja and 1 case in Shkodra. 39 health personnel were tested, 3 out of whom resulted positive, contacts of previous positive cases.
In Albania there are 266 active people with COVID-19, where in Tirana there are over 68% of those affected, while the rest are mainly in Durres, Kamez, Kruja.
“Since the outbreak of the epidemic, over 17,000 molecular and serological tests have been performed and 1197 cases resulted positive, while about 75% of those affected have already recovered,” said Dervishi. /argumentum.al
