TIRANA – Norway’s Statkraft said it has started commercial operations at Moglice hydro power plant in Albania, part of Devoll hydro power project.
The power plant located on the Devoll river in southeastern Albania was officially opened on June 22, the company said in a statement on Monday as quoted by SeeNews on Tuesday.
“Finalising the Moglice hydro power plant marks an important milestone for Statkraft’s activities in Albania. The country is developing to be the electricity hub of the region, opening up to further opportunities,” Christian Rynning-Tonnesen, CEO of Statkraft, said in the statement.
Moglice has an installed capacity of 184 MW and will generate approximately 450 GWh per year. The Devoll project also includes the 73 MW Banja HPP, which has been operational since 2016.
Together with Banja hydro power plant, Statkraft’s electricity production in the Devoll valley will reach 700 GWh per year, equal to approximately 13% of Albania’s total electricity generation, the company said. /argumentum.al
