TIRANA – The current situation and the measures taken by the two countries to cope with the difficult situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic were the focus of a telephone conversation that President Ilir Meta had with his North Macedonian counterpart Stevo Panderovski.
The two presidents praised the European Union’s assistance in overcoming the impact of the pandemic, according to Meta’s post on his FB account on Tuesday. Presidents Meta and Pendarovski expressed their willingness to share and coordinate experience in order to overcome the health and socio-economic crisis as soon as possible in the spirit of solidarity and regional cooperation.
Meta was particularly interested in the situation in the areas inhabited by Albanians and expressed satisfaction for the care shown towards them and the measures taken by state authorities. Also, he expressed his satisfaction that there are no worrying cases in the Municipality of Pustec so far.
During the telephone conversation, President Meta welcomed the membership of North Macedonia in NATO, assessing that this decision serves to strengthen security, stability and peace not only in our region.
“Albania and North Macedonia, as two neighboring countries, allies in NATO and with common European and Euro-Atlantic visions, will further strengthen cooperation and contribution to the further enhancement of collective security,” said Meta. /argumentum.al
