TIRANA, September 25 – Economic expert Fatos Çoçoli said in an interview with Ora News on Sunday that middle-income families will no longer be able to afford the increased price of electricity.
Çoçoli said it will be a difficult test because now traditional means of heating are not used. “Heating with electricity is almost 95% in citizen families. Our country has had free energy. Middle-income families used to be able to afford it, but that won’t happen anymore. From the middle of November we will have big problems with energy,” he warned.
According to him, there are three possible scenarios regarding people’s approach to energy consumption. “Three things will happen, the correction of the figures by the biller through bribes. I see such a danger that families will be forced to heat up and in the middle of the month if the clock goes to 800 kilowatts they will try not to be that much. They will make attempts to manipulate the biller or interfere in the meter. The rest will be those families who will spend less, but will think to insulate the house better,” said Çoçoli.
The third scenario that can happen, according to him, is that some families switch to firewood, but it is also expensive. But heating with firewood is less expensive. /Argumentum.al
