TIRANA, August 27 – The Speaker of the Assembly, Lindita Nikolla has joined other senior officials of Albania in greeting the agreement on the arrangement for free movement between Kosovo and Serbia announced on Friday.
Nikolla said in a post on social media on Saturday that understanding and goodwill guarantee lasting solutions. “Today’s agreement is a promising step towards advancing the dialogue,” emphasized Nikolla.
The Speaker expressed gratitude to the High Representative for EU Foreign Policy, Borrell, and the envoys of the US, Escobar and the EU, Lajcak, for the contribution and rapprochement of the positions between the two states.
According to the agreement, Serbia agreed to abolish its entry-exit document for Kosovo ID holders, and Kosovo agreed not to introduce them for Serbian ID holders.
The agreement came after talks in Brussels earlier this week between Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, chaired by Borrell.
In Pristina, Kurti said: “Solutions for normalization must include reciprocity, because good neighborly relations imply it.”
Petar Petković, the head of Serbia’s office for Kosovo, welcomed the free movement deal. “We have managed to ensure peace and stability on the territory of Kosovo and to preserve Serbian ID cards for Serbs” living in Kosovo “and thus also the presence of the Serbian state on this territory,” he said.
