TIRANA – What has been feared most was the spread of the coronavirus infection in kindergartens, and other places where children gather in large numbers. Unfortunately it happened on Monday when, as it is officially reported, a teacher was confirmed infected with coronavirus at the kindergarten number16 in Tirana.
The first immediate measure was to close the institution, and parents were informed to take their children immediately from there. It is reported that 53 children and 22 staff members of the kindergarten will be put in quarantine which will last until June 29.
Kindergarten’s director Zganeta Beqiri said that all the staff would be tested, while the environment would be disinfected. “We will follow the protocol of the hospital as all the staff will be tested and quarantined for 14 days,” she said.
It is the first case that such a massive infection of children happens in Albania since the outbreak of the epidemic on March 9. Kindergartens were opened as part of the gradual lifting of the lockdown by the government on June 18.
This infection coincides with a frightful increase of the newly coronavirus cases the peak of which was on Monday when 69 people were confirmed affected with the virus. /argumentum.al
