Kosovo and Serbia signed Friday in Munich two letters of intent on restoring rail and highway connection between the two countries, Gazeta Express reports. The agreements are brokered by the US special envoy on Dialogue, Ambassador Richard Grenell.
The signing ceremony was done ahead of the Munich Security Conference taking place today. The ceremony was attended by presidents Hashim Thaci of Kosovo and Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia as well as the US envoy, Ambassador Richard Grenell. Kosovo President has welcomed reaching of the Agreement. “Another milestone! First, the deal on air traffic and today we signed the deal on railways and highways between Kosovo and Serbia. Thank you Donald Trump for your leadership, and Richard Grenell for the resolve. A great step towards reaching a final peace agreement between two countries,” Thaci wrote in Twitter.
Through these letters of intent Kosovo and Serbia express readiness to normalize railway and highway traffic. Ambassador Grenell pledged that in his mission as mediator, he will focus on helping Pristina and Belgrade overcome all open issues on economy, in order to move towards reaching an agreement on normalisation of relations, which is needed for Kosovo and Serbia to create sustainable economies ready to attract foreign investors. Grenell in January help the two countries reach another deal on restoring direct flights between the two capitals – Pristina and Belgrade. /GazetaExpress/
