“Our national day is an occasion of great significance for our beloved country, and I would like to take this opportunity to share the sorrows with Albanian friendly people after the devastating earthquake that hit large parts of the capital Tirana and other cities, in November last year,” said Ambassador Fayez Mishari Al- Jassim

TIRANA – “Kuwaiti- Albanian relations are solid and in continuous growth over the recent years. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1968, an intensification of the course of the bilateral relations has been marked,” has said the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Albania, Fayez Mishari Al- Jassim.

The Ambassador made that comment in a speech held during a reception hosted by him on February 19, 2020 to celebrate the 59th anniversary of the National Day and the 29th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the State of Kuwait with the participation of President Ilir Meta, ministers, deputies, ambassadors and representatives of International Organizations accredited to Albania and other invitees.

In the frame of the festivities a photographic exhibition with works of Mrs. Ebtisam Nasser Al-Houti, the spouse of Ambassador Al Jassim, was launched in Tirana on February 17. This exhibition under the motto “Artists with Golden Hands and Their Beautiful Art”, which is the second of the artist, Ebtisam Al-Houti held in Tirana, displayed the cultural aspect of craftswomen in both countries and their creative works, which reflect their distinctive and delicate artistic touches.

“Our national day is an occasion of great significance for our beloved country, and I would like to take this opportunity to share the sorrows with Albanian friendly people after the devastating earthquake that hit large parts of the capital Tirana and other cities, in November last year,” said Ambassador Al-Jassim, who revealed that the Embassy, with direct instructions from the high political leadership of the State of Kuwait, made its calls to coordinate with Kuwaiti charitable associations operating in Albania, to provide urgent support to the earthquake victims exceeding the value of 700,000 euros.

Kuwaiti charitable assistance, present in many Albanian cities, has never been interrupted since 1992 until today. Rather, it has been increased in multiple sectors, such as healthcare and education, with large projects, reaching its value up to 111 million euros.

Mr. Fayez Mishari Al- Jassim took the opportunity to highlight the Kuwaiti support to many development projects, respectively in infrastructure sector, financed by the Kuwait Fund for Development. “The last one was the vital road leading to the city of Vlora called “Vlora River Road”, which amounts to 56 million euros, and it contributes effectively to the development and renewal of infrastructure in accordance to international standards in Albania.”

Further on Kuwait’s top envoy to Tirana spoke of his country’s membership to the United Nations Security Council for the period 2018-2019 which he called as a major achievement for Kuwait’s foreign policy. “It is important for us to fully support preventive diplomacy and conflict resolution in a peaceful way, as well as to contribute to the resolution of humanitarian issues, which affects the international peace and security,” said Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Albania, Fayez Mishari Al- Jassim in the speech which follows:

First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude that you accepted our invitation to attend the celebrations of the 59th Anniversary of the National Day and the 29th Anniversary of the Liberation Day of the State of Kuwait.

Kuwaiti- Albanian relations are solid and in continuous growth over the recent years. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1968, it has been marked an intensification in the course of bilateral relations, accomplishing the persistent efforts towards the development and strength of the relationship, as well as showing the interest in their progress at a new, fruitful and constructive cooperation stage, to meet the aspirations of the leadership and peoples of the two countries.

Our national day is an occasion of great significance for our beloved country, and I would like to take this opportunity to share the sorrows with Albanian friendly people after the devastating earthquake that hit large parts of the capital Tirana and other cities, in November last year.

In this regard, the Embassy, with direct instructions from the high political leadership of the State of Kuwait, made its calls to coordinate with Kuwaiti charitable associations operating in the Republic of Albania, to provide urgent support to the earthquake victims, where efforts were united under the umbrella of Kuwait Joint Relief Association which consisted of providing perishable supplies and first aid, in amounts exceeding 700,000 euros.

Kuwaiti charitable assistance, presence in many Albanian cities, has never been interrupted since 1992 until today. Rather, it has been increased in multiple sectors, such as healthcare and education, with large projects, reaching its value up to 111 million euros.

And to complete the Kuwaiti efforts in the field of development work, we were able to put a prominent and honorable mark for the State of Kuwait in this sector, in the friendly country, the Republic of Albania, expressing through it the official position of the State of Kuwait.

Therefore, I would like to refer to many development projects, respectively in infrastructure sector, financed by the Kuwait Fund for Development. The last one was the vital road leading to the city of Vlora called “Vlora River Road”, which amounts to 56 million euros, and it contributes effectively to the development and renewal of infrastructure in accordance to international standards in Albania.

The termination of the membership of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations Security Council for the period 2018-2019 is a major achievement for Kuwait’s foreign policy. It is important for us to fully support preventive diplomacy and conflict resolution in a peaceful way, as well as to contribute to the resolution of humanitarian issues, which affects the international peace and security.

From this perspective, my country has adopted the priorities during its membership in following up the processes of implementing Security Council resolutions related to conflict resolution and working in a manner that contributes to achieving security and stability at both, regional and international levels.

At the end, I would like to express our sincere wishes for further success to the Albanian government and its friendly people, hoping that the Zagreb summit, scheduled to be held in May, will be a new start to open negotiations for the accession of the Republic of Albania to the European Union.

I would like to thank everyone who attended personally our celebration from Kuwait, and everyone who contributed to the success of this event, which is the best message of the spread of brotherhood between our two countries.
