TIRANA, September 5 – The Chairman of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta, declared on Monday that his party will submit a draft law on salary indexation to the Assembly.
In a media conference on the eve of the start of the deliberations of the new session of the Assembly on Monday, Meta said that the indexation of wages is required after the continuous increase in prices.
He announced that the draft law signed by the deputies of the Freedom Party for the indexation of the salaries of public administration employees will be submitted to the Assembly.
“The purpose of this draft law is to establish rules to guarantee salary increases when the economy has positive growth. The establishment of a rule to protect them from the increase in prices is also foreseen,” said Meta, who, in the meantime, ignored the increase of pensions or of the aid to families in need that are most gravely hit by the new skyrocketing wave of prices in Albania.
The average pension in this Balkan country is about 150 dollars, which is the lowest in the region and Europe. The government of PM Edi Rama also has not included the rise of pensions in its last scheme of increasing salaries.
Further the FP head responded to the interest of the media regarding the I.M file and the position of the Freedom Party on the files draft law. He stressed that the Freedom Party is in favor of opening the files of former State Security spies.
“As far as the law on spies is concerned, it is a law that the Socialist Party itself made in 2015, according to the German model. It is a law that the SP itself has violated with its representatives at the Files Authority. Our position as the Freedom Party and in coherence with the former position of the LSI (Socialist Movement for Integration) at that time and my position as a politician at all times has been to open the files and demonstrate them to the public opinion for anyone who wants to be elected,” he said, adding that the I.M file is a forgery by Edi Rama and all his puppets at the ‘Manipulation Authority of Files’.
Meta, a former president, has filed a criminal complaint with the Files Authority, while the prosecution authority of serious crimes, known as SPAK, has passed the matter on to the prosecutor’s office.
Regarding the issue of opposition’s protests against the current government, Meta said could not speak of a concrete date on behalf of all the united opposition. But, according to him, FP has its own agenda to launch anti-corruption protests.
“Be sure that protests will be announced in these 24 hours. There will be protests where crime occurs, where citizens and their taxes are stolen. This will happen when I also consult with the party leaders,” said Meta. /Argumentum.al
