TIRANA, April 7 – Albania will legalize cannabis for medical purposes and this is already a fact, said Prime Minister Edi Rama after 61% of citizens voted “pro” on the National Counseling Form. Unveiling the answers to the questions in this form on Thursday Rama said that this will affect the economic growth of the country and the creation of new jobs.
“We will legalize cannabis and open a new front of work and economic growth, in addition to increasing the technological aspect; what the citizens have said will be realized,” Rama said.
Citizens were asked among other things in the Counseling form: There are people who say that Albania should allow state-controlled cultivation, processing and export of cannabis for medical purposes, without being legalized for reasons of personal use. Others say cannabis should not be allowed for medical purposes either. What do you think? Some 308,992 people answered positively to this question, while 148,092 voted no, and 51,051 said they didn’ know. The above figures mean that 61% are in favor, 29% against and 10% do not know. Rama said that the legalization will happen “very soon”, but did not give a concrete date. /Argumentum.al
