TIRANA – President Ilir Meta has appreciated the economic plan unveiled by Premier Edi Rama in the drive to overcome the emergency situation created in Albania because of coronavirus epidemic.
“I praise the financial support made public by the Prime Minister. I invite the government to determine as soon as possible the criteria of the aid for the businesses and the families in need,” said Mr. Meta in a post at his FB account on Friday.
PM Rama unveiled on Thursday a 7- point plan to cope with the situation created by the Covid-19 epidemic which has gripped Albania where the number of the affected persons amounted to 70 on Friday.
The President encouraged consultations with the groups of interest for making transparent the streamlining of the funds for responding immediately to the emergent needs of the citizens.
Regarding the financial treatment of the head of state, Mr. Meta said it will be reduced in the same way like for the other senior state officials as predicted in the plan which has been made public. Likewise, the presidential institution has expressed solidarity for the cut of the annual budget aiming at directing them for use in the health sector and the supportive groups involved in the confrontation with Covid-19.
“Cooperation, all- inclusiveness, humanism and pan- national solidarity will give all of us the necessary positive power to win this challenge by overpowering fear and having unwavering confidence in the future and God,” concluded the President.
For its part the Democratic Party (DP) in its Friday’s reaction on the government financial supportive plan said that it considered the plan as indispensible to face the crisis.
“The proposal of the government needs urgent transparency and details,” said the largest opposition force in Albania in its statement. “The declared measures are assessed by DP as a welcomed first step, but they are insufficient,” said DP. /argumentum.al
