TIRANA, August 22 – The Russian Embassy in Tirana has said that it has not received information from the official Albanian authorities regarding the detention of Russian citizens suspected of infiltration.
Two Russian citizens, 33-year-old Svetlana Timofoeva, 23-year-old Mikhail Zorin and a Ukrainian, Fyodor Mihailovic, were arrested late on Saturday evening after an incident at the military plant in Gramsh. As they tried to enter the plant, they attacked with neuro-paralyzing spray two military guards within the premises of the military object.
According to the Russian embassy quoted by Euronews Albania on Monday, a note was sent to the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania with the request to inform them about the details of the event.
“The diplomatic mission is informed about the incident that happened only by the media,” the embassy said. The note requested to notify the Russian diplomatic mission in the prescribed manner about the identity of the detainees, their current location, the essence of the charges levelled against them, further procedural actions against them, as well as the possibility of organizing a meeting of the representative of yhe Consular Office of the Embassy with the detained Russian citizens.
In their testimony, the detainees said they were bloggers and mostly photographed military territories that were abandoned and no longer used by the state.
The Russian detainees are officially charged of “Giving secret information” and “Providing information”. /Argumentum.al
