TIRANA, September 6 – The meeting of the parliamentary Economic and Finance Commission was accompanied by debates between the socialist MP, Erion Braoe and Minister Delina Ibrahimaj.
Brace raised concerns about the lack of help for retirees and the needy at a time when prices have become unaffordable. The Minister of Economy said that the detailed anti-crisis package will be presented in a few days.
Brace said that it is very important for the government to come up with an energy saving plan for public institutions, saying that you wake up in the morning and there is unnecessary lighting even on top of the hill.
Speaking about the social package, Brace requested that it should be applied since the act was signed at the end of July, but his speech was interrupted by Ibrahimaj, who said that some of those who claim to be supported by aid should go to work.
“I am concerned about the social package, because it is the state that must maintain these social categories. The normative act was made in July and we are in September today. So the act is here and the social package should have been presented,” said Brace who was a deputy premier in Rama government.
“Imagine a couple of pensioners who both receive a pension of 22,000 lek. These people have their eyes on this package,” said the Socialist deputy.
Replying to the remark of the minister who claimed that needy people should go to work Brace said: “Who is going to put that 70-year-old to work? Those who get economic aid are few. But since those who are 70-year-old should work, let’s employ them.”
