The Socialist Party (SP) deputy, Ornaldo Rakipi, called unfair the decision of the US State Department to declare his father, Aqif Rakipi non grata.
Rakipi said in a statement made in plenary session of Parliament on Thursday that his father is doing everything to establish justice in the country. Rakipi also touched upon the former leader of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha, who, he said, is fake, taking care only of his selfish and material interest.
“I have a word for Lulzim Basha. Do not curse the success of the other, but learn that politics is basically the relationship with people. And that’s exactly the reason for your serial failure, it’s why you, even though you have been given the greatest chances given to someone in these 30 years, failed to win the hearts and trust of the people,” he said.
Further the Socialist MP said success comes when you consider people, meet them, look them in the eye, cry over their worries, and strive for them, when you find them in difficult days, when they find support when they have a problem, when doors of hospitals are slammed on them, when they collide with the arrogance of institutions, when no one listens to them. “My father did the utmost to help everyone in need.”
Rakipi invited the media and everyone to investigate and research into his daily activity from the first day of political engagement until now.
Former MP Aqif Rakipi and businessman Ylli Ndroqi have been listed in the ‘black list’ among 7 people from the Western Balkans declared non grata. The United States Treasury Department ‘s Office of Foreign Assets Control described them as persons who threaten the stability of the region through corruption, criminal activity, and other destabilizing behavior.
Socialist deputies are reportedly ordered not to make any comments on this issue as there would be an official stance of the parliamentary majority group. /Argumentum.al
