TIRANA, August 8 – Three houses were burned by the fire that engulfed the administrative unit of Bërdica in Shkodra, northern Albania on Monday. The flames spread rapidly as a result of the wind. The fire brigade and the army immediately evacuated the residents in two of the houses, while the third one has been uninhabited for some time. The ‘battle’ with the flames continues in Bërdica, while the fires have surrounded all of Shkodra, from Postriba, to Bardhaj and up to the border with Malesia e Madhe.
A large-scale fire has also engulfed the hills in the area of Shënepremte in Lushnja.
It is learned that the flames have engulfed several hills with olive trees, also favored by the strong wind and high temperatures. Currently, the fire is moving to Kodrat Divjaka, near the village of Gërmenje.
According to data from the National Operational Center of Civil Emergencies, 26 fires were reported during the last 24 hours.
There is currently an active fire in the village of Gjysulkanë in Tirana, which also endangered the homes.
The fire continues to be active in the place called “Bjeshka e Bregut”, the village of Ura e Shtrenjte and the village of Vilëz, in Shkodra. Also, the fire is active on Malin e Toles in the village of Lam i Madh, Mat municipality.
Even in Durrës, the fire broke out in the village of Shetaj, which is still active.
