TIRANA – Albania was shaken by a strong earthquake with its epicenter in Durres and Tirana on Monday afternoon. A preliminary report by Albanian Institute of Geosicences said the magnitude of the tremor was 4.8.
Its epicenter was 10 kilometers (6 miles) in the town of Shijak, between Durres and Tirana, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers, according to the US Geological Survey.
No damages or injuries have been reported.
Other small quakes were registered on Sunday night with magnitude up to 3.5. Some 64 quakes were registered during the last 30 days in Albania, but as it is reported Monday’s one was the strongest.
