A warning was issued by US Ambassador Yuri Kim to Albania’s politicians according to which the leaders of this Balkan country will be held accountable for those running under their banner.
The straightforward warning, which seems normally quite undiplomatic for an ambassador in other countries, was accompanied by quoting Tony Blinken, President Biden’s nominee for Secretary of State, who wants to elevate the work in combating corruption.
Kim’s post on Twitter on Friday reads:
“Warning: As parties prepare for elections, leaders will be held accountable for those running under their banner. Please vet your candidates – don’t insult voters, don’t undermine democracy, don’t promote corruption.”
It was followed by another warning htelling politicians if they wanted to know whether this warning remains valid, this is what Tony Blinken said at his 1/19 hearing before the Senate: “We want to elevate the work in combating corruption.”

US Ambassador’s warnings have been welcomed by many Albanian followers of her on Twitter and some asked her if she could inform Albanians on “one case of Corruption that SPAK has investigated”. In addition some wanted to know which are the results of SPAK’s performance against corruption.
On Thursday US Ambassador Kim and EU Ambassador Soreca met with the members of the Constitutional Court to thank them for answering the call of duty, which has enabled the Court to meet the quorum for functionality.
“Thank you to CC judges for answering the call of duty. It is essential for judges to act with independence & integrity to deliver justice for the people of 🇦🇱, irrespective of which institution nominated them. 🇺🇸 will continue to strongly support implementation of Justice Reform,” read the post released by the US Embassy on Twitter. /argumentum.al
