TIRANA, June 10 – The mayors of Kosovo and some municipalities of Albania gathered on Friday in the city of Prizren, where the 144th anniversary of the Albanian League of Prizren was commemorated. After being received by the Mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, in the building of the White House, the mayors stopped in the yard of the Albanian League of Prizren, where the memorial ceremony was held.
While praising this historic event in his greeting the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj said that the Modern League of Prizren means the ‘melting’ of borders and the increase of cooperation between each other.
“It is a special pleasure to be together in historic Prizren, in this historic house and I strongly believe that this meeting today has its own historical dimension. I want to call it the ‘Modern League of Prizren’! A new connection that brings us together, as once our ancestors from all Albanian territories,” said Veliaj.
According to him, the time is different and the situation is completely different from that of 144 years ago. “We are not at war, we are at peace! We have no territorial dangers: our goal is not to set borders. On the contrary, the ‘melting’ of borders and the increase of cooperation between us are the objective. There are no conflicts and we all have a common denominator for the need and necessity of communication and dialogue between us. We must give and take from each other,” said Tirana’s Mayor Veliaj. /Argumentum.al
