TIRANA, October 12 – In response to the questions of the representatives of the member countries in the Council of Europe, PM Edi Rama said on Wednesday that care should be taken not to put pressure on Serbia for the sanctions against Russia as this could push them to love Russian President Putin more.
“The only exception is Albania and Kosovo, where Russia has no influence. This is the situation that we know that there is disagreement with Serbia and of course even though I say (Serbian President Aleksandar) Vucic is my friend, I will say that the fact is that we should not put pressure on Serbia for sanctions. We must be careful not to throw Serbia into Putin’s arms because there are people in Serbia who love him,” he said.
Rama replied that as to whether or not Russia should be excluded from the UN, Rama said that one of the advantages of being the leader of a small country is that he does not have to make decisions on such major issues. He said that Albania will agree to the decision taken.
“It is not up to us to say whether Russia should be excluded. We do not rule the world. We want our region to prosper and disagreements should not to be a reason to start new conflicts,” he said.
Touching upon the cyber attack against Albania, Rama said that it was a cyber attack sponsored by Iran, which has been proved by international specialized agencies. /Argumentum.al
