TIRANA, August 12 – Great Britain will undertake a second ‘wave’ of declarations of ‘non grata’ of politicians, businessmen and all those who allegedly undermine the rule of law in Albania. The statement was made by the British ambassador toed Albania, Alastair King-Smith, who said in an interview for TCH TV on Friday that the declarations of non grata will come by the end of the year.
The senior diplomat said that similar actions will be taken, but the names were not made public for some legal reasons. “You will see more about this later this year and beyond. This will be something that will become routine. As soon as evidence comes to light, reports from journalists or others we will see what actions we take to help the final goal of ending impunity”, said the ambassador among other things.
On July 22, former Prime Minister Sali Berisha announced himself that he had been declared non grata by Great Britain. Earlier Berisha was declared non grata by the US State Secretary, Anthony Blinken.
