TIRANA, June 23 – Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has accused Foreign Minister Olta Xhacka in Thursday’s plenary session of the Assembly of benefiting from properties in the Dhërmi area, southern Albania, declaring her husband a strategic investor.
In her response, Minister Xhacka said that her husband had his own properties and it was shameful for a person like Berisha to lie and cheat at his age.
Berisha told the minister that all the ladies in parliament had husbands, but only one, Xhacka, has a super husband and the one who has a super husband and even a strategic husband, is called Olta Xhacka, who has been happy with properties in Dhërmi and other areas which led him to the level of strategic investor.
For her part, Xhacka said that she was proud of her husband and did not know how proud Berisha’s wife was of him. “But my husband is in his own land and property and has not benefited a single cm from the Albanian state. It is a shame and you must have respect for yourself and do not lie and cheat as you have done for these 30 years,” she said.
In the meantime, Xhacka refused to reply to the Democrat deputies, Gazment Bardhi and Agron Shehaj, initiators of two different demands that have the same essence: the removal of the mandate of the deputy, Olta Xhacka, Albania’s top diplomat and a former Defense Minister.
It remains to be seen if the parliamentary commission on mandates will gather on Friday to consider the opposition’s demands to lift the parliamentary mandate of the foreign minister.
