TIRANA, June 9 – The first positive growth due to the “Open Balkans” has been the increase of exports to the economy, which the opposition is seeing as the biggest risk and conspiracy, which is the Serbian economy. “Even there we have a very positive balance so far,” said Defense Minister Niko Peleshi in a plenary parliamentary session on Thursday.
“At the moment when the opposition claims that the ‘Open Balkans’ threatens the Albanian economy, it means that it promotes the thesis of protectionism, of closing the market,” said Peleshi as all the majority opposition was in front to protect the initiative launched by Serbia and Albania.
A summit of the Initiative was held in Ohrid on Wednesday where four agreements were signed.
“If you are for protectionism, if you are for the free movement of people and goods, you must also support integration among each other in the Balkans. To move more, to exchange more goods and, of course, culture and economy, because they are also preconditions for more stability in the Balkans, “said the minister.
Peleshi also reacted to opposition’s statements against boards supposed to ‘discipline’ the oil and food prices.
“Only the opposition tries to convince the citizens that the rise in prices is not due to the war. This war has shaken first the economy, world markets and then others. We have to accept the source at least. We thought that in this war situation there should be an added kind of hand of the state, so that prices do not exceed, there is no speculation. “The board is against the speculators and we will intervene, because it is an emergency situation,” said Peleshi. / Argumentum.al
