TIRANA, September 5 – President Bajram Begaj addressed on Monday a message to the deputies of the Parliament of Albania on the occasion of the start of the new parliamentary session, which launched its deliberations on Monday evening according to the schedule set by the Conference of the Chairmen on Sunday.
The President said cooperation with the Assembly is his responsibility of fulfilling the constitutional duty, but more than that it is an expression of conviction and belief that together they could reveal another dimension of approach and political behavior.
According to him, taking the decision to open negotiations with the European Union necessarily imposes on everyone, reflection and more responsibility, seriousness and more commitment.
The President pointed out in his message that political dialogue, inclusiveness and consensus should be the leitmotif of parliamentary work.
Further, the President also touched upon some of the problems in the country, reminding the deputies of the obligation to support the implementation of the justice reform and the fight against corruption.
The President said that the new session of the Assembly precedes the period when the next elections for the local government bodies will be held, which, as he said, are a good opportunity to demonstrate maturity and political responsibility, seriousness and the commitment of all political actors to carry out elections according to European standards in Albania. In addition the President said that governance needs a critical perspective and opposition.
Focusing on the global situation, Begaj said that the Western Balkans continues to be under the constant threat of various risk factors and launched the appeal for supporting Kosovo at all levels.
