TIRANA, November 24 – The allied parties of the Democratic Party (DP) have requested a new strategy for the opposition coalition.
The chairman of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, said in a statement to the media on Friday that only the united opposition can change the reality in Albania.
“The opposition must rise to its responsibilities. We propose the institutionalization of the opposition federation, which will turn into an opposition coalition. With this federation, an opposition coalition strategy will be created,” he said.
Mediu emphasized that the opposition must have a clear stance against the influence of third factors, especially Russia and China.
He asked for close relations and cooperation with the EU, USA and Great Britain as well as a coordinated attitude with the Albanian institutional and political factor in the region.
Mediu proposed the creation of the opposition senate, with important governing figures from the history of the opposition and prominent artists from abroad who would become part of the political thought and advice.
“If we are divided, the majority will continue the political struggle as it has done so far. We must unite around the ideas of how we can achieve change in this country, regardless of the political weight,” he said.
While the head of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, Agron Duka, said that it is hoped that by creating the union the opposition can avoid disintegration.
“We must leave individual problems and troubles and unite around a strategic attitude. Each one of us should tolerate a little bit to serve the opposition. The election reform was also an attempt at unification. We compiled a list of 35 MPs, they were from Rithemelimi and DP”, said Duka. /argumentum.al
