In 2023, Albania successfully completed the screening process, marking a significant step in the European integration process, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs announced today.
The successful conclusion of the analytical review process of Albanian legislation (screening) to assess its compatibility with the EU involved 1,000 experts and 300 meetings were held over 14 months.
Furthermore, in 2023, the Berlin Process Summit was held for the first time in Tirana, marking a historic and successful moment for Albania.
The successful conclusion of the Presidency of the Berlin Process and the Western Balkans Fund culminated with the Ministerial and Summit meetings.
Within this process, three agreements on free movement, signed in 2022 in Berlin, came into force.
The enforcement of the Roaming tariff reduction agreement between the EU and the Western Balkans was also made possible.
The College of Europe was opened in Tirana.
And an agreement for the recognition of professional qualifications for “Pharmacists, veterinarians, nurses, and midwives” was signed.
For the year 2024, Albania remains committed to advancing the accession negotiation process through the opening of chapters.
