TIRANA, August 16 – The head of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta has unveiled that the condition for an inter parties coalition is the referendum and not the bargains in order to give the belief that the rights of the citizens are being fought for.
Meta, a former president, made that revelation in a meeting with party structures in Vlora, southern Albania on Tuesday.
“The country is facing a danger. If another 100-200,000 Albanians flee it will be fatal and to halt this we must give confidence that we are fighting for these people and the commitment to the referendum aims at exactly this: restoring the control of the people,” said Meta.
He recalled that the people decided it with a referendum on November 28, 1998, but practically they (majority) have made every effort to have a law that makes the referendum impossible. “This is our first commitment to any engagement and coalition in the future. Our condition is not to take this or that municipality. Our condition is a coalition with us equal to a referendum,” said Meta.
“Don’t wait for Europe to bother for us because they have their own problems. When the people stand up, everyone says we are with the people,” he said.
Meta was confident that things will change much faster than thought. “The factors have matured. This system fights with anti-corruption and not with intrigues, with direct confrontation. Therefore, the disclosure of the affairs will bring big shocks very quickly, which will be unpredictable for anyone who takes into account what happened these 9 years. Eventually, the world has realized what a charlatan this prime minister (Edi Rama) is,” said Meta.
