TIRANA, October 9 – Medical students protested again in Tirana on Monday, which is the second week of the class boycott since the beginning of the academic year.
The medical students started the protest in front of the building of the Faculty of Medicine, and then they marched towards the Ministry of Education.
With banners in their hands and chanting slogans they demanded the repeal of the new law on Medicine, which forces them to stay in Albania for 5 years or pay a fee.
Since the new academic year started on October 2, students have boycotted classes in protest to oppose the new law on medicine.
The students do not agree with the approved law that forces them to sign a contract that forces them to stay in Albania for 5 years. In the meantime those who continue their studies from the second to the sixth year have the opportunity to sign the agreement that obliges them to work for 2 or 3 years in Albania. Otherwise, they will pay the full tuition fee. /argumentum.al
