Vaccination against Covid-19 in Albania is continuing at a fast pace, said the Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu through a video on “Facebook” on Saturday. She confirmed that so far 250,676 people have been vaccinated throughout the country and according to her 500,000 people are expected to be vaccinated in total by May this year, creating the possibility for a easier tourist season.
“More than 176,000 grandparents are more protected today by Covid-19 thanks to the mass vaccination campaign, which we will continue at a high pace to protect the health and life of every citizen. 250,676 vaccinations have been performed and there will be 500,000 vaccinated within the month of May,” noted the minister.
In the meantime, the head of the national vaccination program, Erida Nelaj announced that the new doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be used for patients who have had transplants and those undergoing dialysis. The doses that will be used will be the ones that arrived a few days ago in Albania. According to Nelaj, people who have passed Covid-19, should receive the first dose of the vaccine at least after a month.
