TIRANA, December 5 – Employees of the National Inspectorate of Territory Protection (IKMT), an institution previously designated by the State Department as a lawbreaker, worked as rarely on weekends on Saturday and Sunday, December 3 and 4, 2022, to demolish a multi-storey hotel on the coast of Kavaja, which the government claims was built without permission, said Birn on Monday.
But the owner of the complex, businessman Irfan Hysenbelliu, has said that the hotel was built with a permit and that the cause of the demolition is related to the critical stance that his media, two newspapers and a television, have taken towards the government of Edi Rama.
The “Prestige Resort” hotel, built several years ago, was widely advertised in the media and was even visited by Prime Minister Edi Rama himself, but it seems that its existence as an illegal construction was discovered only this year.
“This operation that is rumored, ridiculed and anathemized by all our opponents has nothing to do with the media,” Rama declared on Twitter on Sunday while claiming that the operation will put an end to illegal construction.
Albania is infamous for illegal constructions
Hysenbelliu, who has economic activities in media, beer production, construction, tourism and other fields, declared after the demolition that the cause of the operation had to do with his media.
“I am clear about everything that happened. I know Rama’s brain very well. We often stayed together,” Hysenbelliu declared.
According to him, the fact that IKMT went first last September to demolish the swimming pools and then, in December, to demolish the hotel, shows the mafia nature of Rama’s action, which first warns and, if the warning does not work follows with destruction .
Hysenbelliu unveiled that he plans to create a branch of his media in the United States to continue fighting what he considered to be Edi Rama’s corruption. /Argumentum.al
