TIRANA, May 23 – President Ilir Meta was in Kosovo on Monday, where he commemorated the 110th anniversary of the Junik Assembly. Meta said that Assembly had an extraordinary importance for Albania of those years and the resistance shown by Kosovo and Northern Albania.
“Kosovo is already a very solid and democratic country, it is an example of free and fair elections, an example of respect for human rights, an example of respect for minority rights,” Meta said in a press conference.
According to him, it is a model country that contributes to peace and stability in the region and obviously based on these standards has long been a member of the Council of Europe.
“So it is an application that deserves the support of all, that serves the affirmation of European values of our entire region, and does not only serve Kosovo,” Meta said.
Asked how he evaluated the election of Sali Berisha as Chairman of the Democratic Party, Meta said: “In a democracy, the vote and the will of the citizens must be respected!”
