Continuing the worst curses and mockeries of the protesters who have taken to the streets against rising prices and the government, Prime Minister Edi Rama said he was ashamed of the protest held in Tirana on Sunday as “Albania is the only NATO member where protests are being organized about the consequences of the war in Ukraine.”
In a television interview on Sunday, Rama stressed that “everyone has given time to the time.”
“All this part of the world, we who are part of NATO, are at the front. Despite the fact that bombs fall on the heads of those there, they are shared with the rest of the family, the war has come here and gone everywhere with the bills,” said Rama who added that what is occurring is insulting for the dignity of this country and this people.
The Prime Minister noted that he does not question the idea of protest, as he said, “I am very attentive to the protests.
“But in this case we are dealing with a time of war… Today we are not in a situation where we can shame our country and show disregard for those who are losing their lives. Today we need to unite,” Rama said.
The PM stressed that, “it is true for the price, as it is true that it is higher in the region but not in Europe, while no country in the region has zero tax for small business, the tax on salary is not so low. There are no such low social and health contributions.”
According to him, if oil taxes are reduced problems are created in the other aspect because energy would affect many more people and then it would be seen as the real pain.
The Prime Minister stressed that “this is a protest organized by politics… This is not the Albanian people. This is a great shame.” /Argumentum.al
