TIRANA, June 18 – The Russian Ministry of Defense has published the full statistics of foreign “mercenaries” killed in Ukraine since the beginning of the war with Russia. According to the list distributed on the official website of the Russian Embassy in Tirana, Russia claimed to have published the exact numbers of citizens who fought on the side of Kiev, including those who died on the battlefield. The statistics show that a total of 6,956 foreign nationals from 64 countries arrived in Ukraine to become pro-Kiev fighters between February 24 and June 17. About 1,956 of them were killed, while 1,779 fled the country.
The Russian authorities claimed that 150 Albanian mercenaries had joined the Ukrainian resistance: 42 mercenaries had been killed, 40 had fled and 68 Albanians continue to fight in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, there are a total of 156 fighters from Kosovo, of which 61 were killed, and 21 were killed from North Macedonia.
According to this list, Poland has the highest number of troops with 1831 citizens followed by Romania, Canada, US and the United Kingdom, while there are also fighters coming from France, Croatia and Estonia.
Albanian PM Edi Rama was on a visit to Kiev a few days ago together with Montenegrin counterpart Dritan Abazovic where they met President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a demonstration of support against Russian invasion but no mention has been made of Albanians fighting in the Ukrainian war front against Russia.
In the meantime, the Russian list showed that 2 Montenegrins went to fight in Ukraine and 1 of them was reportedly killed.
