TIRANA, October 19 – The Council for Regulation, Mandates and Immunity decided on Wednesday to submit two reports to the Assembly regarding the DP’s request for the removal of the mandate of MP Olta Xhaçka, who is also a Foreign Minister..
Democratic Party deputy Gazment Bardhi said that the parties had not agreed on a joint report after accusing the socialists of “deciding to protect their colleague”. While according to the majority, the Assembly has no constitutional reason to take the DP’s request to the Court.
“I and the majority colleague have not agreed on a joint report aa the majority deputies have decided to defend the minister and their colleague, Olta Xhacka. The position of the opposition has been that the Constitutional Court should examine this matter in depth,” said Bardhi. In her argument Socialist representative Klotilda Bushka said the conditions are not there to involve the Constitutional Court in this case.
“We have jumped to the conclusion that there are no issues that the Assembly should send the case for consideration to the Constitutional Court. The requests presented do not meet the criteria of the Constitution. The Assembly does not discuss the reports in session, this is what the constitution and regulations say,” said Bushka. /Argumentum.al
