TIRANA, October 28 – Prosecutor Adnan Xholi has filed a request where he expresses interest for the chair of the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK).
Xholi has a career of over 20 years in the prosecutor’s office, while since 2013 he has been working in the General Prosecutor’s Office and was confirmed by vetting last year. Adnan Xholi was also a candidate to head the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), but he failed to win.
Current head Arben Kraja ends his mandate on December 18 and the council must open the race for the post 3 months before.
On December 19, the new head takes office and Kraja remains the prosecutor of SPAK, since the mandate as a prosecutor is 9 years, while the head of this institution is elected every 3 years.
The head of SPAK does not have the right to re-election, as he has only 1 mandate. / Argumentum.al
