TIRANA, October 23 – Two Albanians of the Diaspora in Ukraine who had joined the Ukrainian army fell in the war against Russian aggression. The news was released by Socialist MP Pandeli Majko, who wrote on social networks on Monday that “the consul of Albania in Ukraine, Omarov Shakhin had written to me about the bitter news. Ukraine, as of today, has two more sons, from the ranks of the Albanian diaspora, who have fallen in the war. They were soldiers in the Ukrainian army who fought and gave their lives in the line of duty as heroes.”
According to the report, they were Dermentli Anatoly and Haydarzhy Danylo. Anatoly was from the Albanian village of Karakurt (in the Odesa region). He was born on September 3, 1980. He was mobilized in the mechanized Brigade No. 118 in the Zaporizhia region. On October 15, he lost his life in a combat mission. In the meantime Haydarzhy Danylo was born in an Albanian family on January 26, 2002 in the village of Georgivka (Zaporozhia region). He was the second child in his family, which currently still lives in the area occupied by Russian troops. When the war started he was in Poland. In the summer of 2022, he volunteered to be mobilized, but was rejected due to his age. In 2023 after his 21st birthday he applied again and served voluntarily in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the military unit A290 and gave his life in the combat zone in the village of Liman, near the city of Kupiansk, in the Kharkiv region. “Yesterday, the funeral ceremonies of two Albanian boys took place in the city of Zaporozhye, who seem not to have forgotten their origins as it is seen in their personal photos,” said Majko.
“At the funeral ceremony the Albanian national flag was placed next to the Ukrainian flag, concluded Majko /argumentum.al
