Washington, D.C. , July 25, 2025
During an official visit to Washington, D.C., I had the honor of meeting with Ambassador Philip Hughes, the newly elected President of the Council of American Ambassadors (CAA). Our discussion focused on the enduring partnership between our two Councils and the shared commitment to strengthening transatlantic dialogue. We agreed to collaborate on several forthcoming initiatives addressing regional diplomacy, security, and the vital role of the United States in the Western Balkans, as well as key elements of Albania’s national foreign policy.
The Council of Albanian Ambassadors and the Council of American Ambassadors have maintained a strategic partnership since the founding of our Council, united by mutual respect and shared democratic values.
On behalf of the Council of Albanian Ambassadors, I conveyed our sincere gratitude to Ambassador Timothy Chorba for his exemplary leadership during his tenure as President of the CAA. We extend our warmest congratulations as he assumes his new role as Chairman of the Board.
The relationship between Albania and the United States is built on a foundation of historic friendship and unwavering support, beginning with America’s early recognition of Albania’s statehood in the 19th century, continuing through Albania’s transition from communism, the establishment of a democratic society, NATO membership, and most notably, the liberation and independence of Kosova, the heart of the Albanian nation.
The bond between our nations is not only rooted in history but carried forward by a shared vision for peace, security, and democratic values. We are proud to deepen our collaboration with the Council of American Ambassadors as we face the challenges and opportunities of the region together, said Ambassador Genci Mucaj , on behalf of the Council of Albanian Ambassadors.
