Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, took part in the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Berlin Process, held in Pržno, Montenegro, reaffirming Albania’s commitment to a safer, more competitive and better-connected Western Balkans.
Hoxha stressed that the security of the Western Balkans and the security of Europe are inseparable, arguing that stronger cooperation, greater unity and a more resilient Europe are essential in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
“For us, this has a name: enlargement,” Hoxha said, describing EU enlargement not as a favour or reward, but as a merit-based process supported by meaningful reforms and as a strategic investment in Europe’s long-term security, stability and competitiveness.
He also highlighted one of the key lessons of the Berlin Process: European integration begins at home, well before membership. According to Hoxha, it advances through practical cooperation, mobility, mutual recognition of diplomas, regional connectivity and the Common Regional Market.
Such concrete achievements, he said, improve citizens’ lives, strengthen regional ties and bring Western Balkan societies progressively closer to the European Union.
