German chancellor Angela Merkel urged EU countries to show solidarity in tackling the economic fallout of the coronavirus crisis and stop the spread of populism.
Merkel carried the German EU presidency’s official face mask in the European Parliament while delivering delivering her statement on Wednesday, said EUobserber.
“We must waste no time, only the weakest would suffer from that. I very much hope that we can reach an agreement this summer. We will need much compromise for that from all sides, and from you,” she told MEPs on 8 Jul in Brussels, at the start of Germany’s EU presidency./argumentum.al
