“We are here being ready to raise Shkodra which is down on its knees because the city has been misfortunate enough to be governed by Democrats for many years never restoring their trust with work and deeds,” said Prime Minister Edi Rama, also chairman of the ruling Socialist Party, who was in northern city on Friday at the end of the electoral campaign for the March 6 local power elections.
Shkodra is one of the 6 municipalities that will vote for the new mayor, the only municipality that is run by the right wing and for this reason, according to the chief socialist, is the only municipality that is not developed like other municipalities in Albania.
“We tell all those who have the opportunity to vote in 6 that it is an opportunity to do what the leaders want to do here – to turn Shkodra into an engine of work and change for the whole region,” he said.
“The municipalities of Puka and Vau i Dejës went forward. The only municipality that does not go forward is the municipality of Shkodra. Here people should no longer be with eyes and even closed noses who do not smell the garbage. Not that everywhere municipalities shine, but it is the worst situation here,” said Rama.
Rama said that Majlinda Angoni is the right solution to Shkodra as the Democratic candidates represent the desperate race between the leader of the Democrats, Lulzim Basha, and the former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha.
Both Basha and Berisha were separately in Shkodra in closing electoral activities as Saturday is declared the day of electoral silence.
“We have the pleasure and pride to tell the people of Shkodra that you can choose a lady who comes from the path of work, of success. On the other hand, the democrats of Shkodra must choose two alternatives that do not have to do with Shkodra, but with the fight between two individuals. A personal fight, for completely personal purposes. One that wants to return from the other world and the other who tries to stay where he is at all costs,” PM Rama said.
Shkodra has been the DP bastion since 1991 when the communist regime was overthrown but despite that the largest city of northern Albania has remained the most backward place in the country. / Argumentum.al
